Alexander Nübel provides Bayern Munich update

Speaking during a press conference, Alexander Nübel gave an update on his situation with Bayern Munich, as reported by Sky Germany.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked to a move back to his parent club from Monaco since Manuel Neuer broke his leg in a skiing accident. However, Nübel has also said that he is comfortable at Monaco and doesn’t wish to come back to Bayern if he is going to be a quick fix until Neuer is fit. Should he return, Nübel wants to be number one regardless if Neuer is around or not.

Nevertheless, the goalkeeper didn’t completely rule out a return to Bavaria: “The transfer window is open until the end of January, anything can happen in football. The decision lies with Monaco.”

However, it’s clear that Monaco aren’t interested in letting their loanee depart earlier than expected. The goalkeeper confirms this by explaining: “They told me that they didn’t want to give me up in winter. I had no talks with FC Bayern. I’m happy here and that’s why I’m still here.”

Bayern have been linked with a number of other goalkeepers in the space of just a few weeks. Possibly none more so than Borussia Mönchengladbach captain Yann Sommer.

With six months remaining of his contract, it’s reported that Gladbach would be willing to let Sommer go under two conditions. These are that they receive around €8m-€9m in transfer fees and that a suitable replacement has been found.
