Ajax technical director Gerry Hamstra has revealed the club is doing everything they can to keep hold of coach Erik ten Haag.
The highly-rated manager is inchign closer to a summer move to Manchester United, with reporters indicating the two parties have a deal in principle to take over at Old Trafford ahead of next season.
Speaking on Sunday, Hamstra was optimistic they can convince the 52-year-old to stay at the Amsterdam-based club.
“I can be very succinct about that,” Hamstra stated. “We have done everything we can and are doing everything we can to keep him on board.
“Contract extension offered? Yes. More money? Everything that comes with it, without going into detail. Erik can ultimately determine his own future, he is old and wise enough for that.
“We have two scenarios: we really hope he stays, it makes sense that there is interest in him. And if he doesn’t stay, we have to be ready for the second scenario.”
Ten Haag has always been the favourite for the Old Trafford hot seat, which will be left vacant at the end of the season when Ralf Rangnick’s interim role comes to an end.
Mauricio Pochettino was one other name that came up often in the succession debate, but United seem to have been convinced by Ten Haag.
