Ajax chief admit Erik ten Hag move to Man United is a possibility

Ajax technical manager Gerry Hamstra has admitted that Erik ten Hag could move to Manchester United in the summer.

Hag is one of the favorites to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer permanently at the Old Trafford hot seat with his rival being PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino.

In an interview with Dutch outlet Voetbal International (via the Daily Mirror), Hamstra admitted ten Hag could join United ahead of next season but insisted that the manager was important for the club in their future plans.

“It would be fantastic if he is still Ajax’s coach next season. He still has an ongoing contract with Ajax, but we also all know how the world works.

“Erik is a professional and focuses on this season himself, on the important months ahead in which the prizes will be distributed. The future will tell, but it is clear that Erik is very important for Ajax,” he said.
United is said to have held interviews for both Haag and Pochettino for the position which will be left vacant as interim manager Ralf Rangnick is set to start a two-year consultancy role at the club when the season ends.

Ten Hag is busy guiding Ajax to what could be their second consecutive Eredivise title and while Pochettino might win the Ligue 1, his failure in the Champions League with the array of stars at his disposal is said to be a worry for United.
