AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli was delighted after their 4-0 win at Napoli.
Milan stunned the Serie A leaders 4-0 in Naples, with Rafael Leao (2), Brahim Diaz and Alexis Saelmaekers all on the scoresheet.
“This is only the first step. There are another nine Serie A games where we must have the same attitude, because we threw away opportunities in the past and cannot do it again. This is a fine win, but it is only one match,” Pioli told DAZN.
“Whatever the result was going to be this evening, it would not affect the Champions League, as that will be a different experience, atmosphere and everything. It will allow us to study this match and see where we did well or could’ve done better.
“Napoli did better than us in Serie A this season, we won an important match, but the most important thing is the final rush. In order for this to be a positive campaign, we need Milan to qualify for the Champions League.”
On two-goal Leao, he added: “Rafa never left. He scored two goals, one playing as a centre-forward, the other starting wide. I think these young lads might look like they are not improving, but they are just assimilating new ideas and getting ready. Rafa will be a champion because he is an intelligent young man.”
