AC Milan vice-president Franco Baresi has welcomed their Europa League draw with Slavia Prague.
Milan will meet Slavia in the round of 16.
Baresi said: “At the end of the draw we had a 50% chance of finding Bayer Leverkusen, it went well, but we must not underestimate Slavia, on the international field we must not underestimate anyone to go far, we must prepare as best we can.
“Yesterday was a painless defeat (against Rennes), but we must try to do better, compared to the first leg there was a different focus, but instead we must always be focused in the same way.
“When you concede a lot of goals, everyone has to do better, it takes more attention and from everyone, the defensive phase requires a spirit of sacrifice, cohesion and collaboration. If we manage to do this we are halfway there, given that we have the players to be able to hurt their opponents in attack.
“Milan must always be ambitious, we must do our best and if we are well we can compete with all the contenders. We must believe in ourselves and we have the qualities to aspire to important goals. The team must grow in general, we play offensively and we create a lot, but on the international field we have to be more compact and united. Hoping that all the defenders will return soon, in order to give the coach more choice.”
