Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has explained that the decision to bench Kylian Mbappé (25) was not a club decision and merely the manager wanting to rest his star player after a busy week, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Mbappé scored and played 90 minutes in PSG’s 2-0 win over La Liga’s Real Sociedad in the Champions League on Wednesday, but had to be content with the final 28 minutes of Les Parisiens victory over FC Nantes by the same scoreline at Stade de la Beaujoire. The Frenchman scored a penalty as Luis Enrique’s side extended their Ligue 1 lead to 14 points over second place OGC Nice.
Mbappé is set to leave the serial French champions for Real Madrid upon expiration of his contract this summer. PSG have already begun to plan for life after their record goalscorer and will hope his final months end with a flourish with the team fighting for trophies on three fronts.
