Sport Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt may have found their additional striker option as they are working on bringing former VfB Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic back to the league on loan.
Since moving to Wolves in the Premier League in 2022, the Austrian has failed to establish himself in the squad with his tenure not helped by an ACL injury in his first season at the club. This season, Kalajdzic has played 11 times and scored twice but has seen himself spend more and more time on the bench. On the Austrian’s future, his agent said: “He has worked hard, is fit like never before, there are people interested in him, both in the Premier League and in the German Bundesliga.”
A loan move to Frankfurt is currently in the works meaning Kalajdzic will likely be the second striker to join Frankfurt in the winter following the expected completion of the signing of Rafiu Durosinmi for €9m from Viktoria Plzen. Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche is a fan of Kalajdzic and tried to sign the 26-year-old for RB Leipzig during his time at the club.
With Omar Marmoush expected to travel to the Africa Cup of Nations and new signing Durosinmi not only recovering from an injury but unproven in the Bundesliga, the signing of Kalajdzic will reduce the burden on the Nigerian as the Austrian is familiar with the league and will likely be able to slot straight into the Frankfurt team.
Kalajdzic’s best season in the Bundesliga saw him score 17 goals in 36 games as the newly promoted team finished ninth in the league.
