As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch will sign for Liverpool.
The Dutch international has been searching for the exit door at Bayern for most of the summer. At the beginning of the window, the club insisted he wasn’t for sale, nor would he be loaned out.
However, as Bayern’s priorities have changed, the club have now agreed a €40m fixed fee with Liverpool for the midfielder. Included in the package is €5m in add-ons, bringing the exact total to €45m.
The 21-year-old will sign a deal with Liverpool until 2028. He will fly to Liverpool on Thursday evening before completing his medical on Friday.
As per the report, it was Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp who was crucial to this sale. The German was in touch with Gravenberch and convinced him to join the team from Merseyside. From Klopp’s point of view, this transfer was crucial.
When Gravenberch joined Bayern for €18.5m from Ajax, many thought he would feature a good bit throughout the season. However, having played less than 1,000 minutes for Bayern, it’s no wonder he wanted out. Having said that, receiving €45m for someone who has represented the club so little is some bit of business.
