Thomas Tuchel offers an update on Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane pursuit

Speaking ahead of Bayern Munich’s DFL Supercup against RB Leipzig on Saturday night, Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel was asked about the club’s pursuit of Harry Kane, is appears set to join the Rekordmeister.

“You probably know more than I do about where he is and what he’s doing,” said Tuchel. “We’re working on it, that’s no secret. But as long as there’s no decision and no agreement, I can’t say anything.”

With registration for the DFL Supercup still open, there’s a possibility that Kane could feature against RB Leipzig on Saturday night. Discussing options for tomorrow’s game, Tuchel added: “All options are open. Harry Kane is not our player now. Our job is to push the players we have. We have time, it’s still early in the season. We also have another training session tomorrow.”

As of midday, and reported by Sky Sports, Kane was at a family home near Stansted airport, ready to board a flight to Munich once given the green light. The Englishman is still expected to undergo a medical with Bayern Munich on Friday ahead of signing a contract with the Bundesliga club until 2027.

Kane will earn a reported €25m salary at Bayern Munich, a significant increase on the €12m he was on at Tottenham, where his contract runs until 2024. The North London club can expect to receive a fixed €100m for Kane, plus a reported €20m in further add-ons. And after Bayern’s well publicised pursuit of Kane, it would appear that this transfer saga is nearing its end.
