As reported by Kicker, Arsenal are considering a move for RB Leipzig right-back Benjamin Henrichs.
The report explained how Henrichs is seen as a possible alternative if the Gunners fail in an attempt to lure former Bayern Munich loanee João Cancelo to London. As well as this, Florian Plettenberg has reported that talks between Arsenal and Henrichs’ representatives have taken place.
Mikel Arteta is believed to be a strong admirer of the 26-year-old, however, Leipzig currently hold the upper hand with his contract not set to expire until 2025. Marco Rose considers the full-back to be an important asset to his team and is hoping to keep hold of the ten-time German international.
Last season, Henrichs would appear 44 times for Die Roten Bullen where he would score four goals and collect three assists, helping Leipzig to retain the DFB-Pokal against Eintracht Frankfurt. The versatile full-back featured across the midfield last season, as well as at right-back and left-back, highlighting his importance to the side and to Rose.
After losing Dominik Szoboszlai to Liverpool and Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea, Leipzig will be hoping to prevent any unnecessary sales this summer. Joško Gvardiol is also set to depart to England with European champions Manchester City close to signing the Croatian, meaning that another sale would significantly dampen Rose’s title ambitions ahead of next season.
