Kim-Min Jae on the verge of Bayern Munich move

Napoli and South Korea defender Kim-Min Jae is on the verge of joining Bayern Munich.

Florian Plettenberg reports that Kim will sign a five-year contract with Bayern Munich until 2028, which will see the central-defender earn between €10m and €12m gross salary per year. The Rekordmeister will activate Kim’s release clause, reportedly around €50m, which becomes active on July 1 for two weeks.

Kim’s entourage is also expected to pocket around €15m from this deal, which Bayern Munich want to finalise in the next few days. Talks between the club and player remain ongoing, and are positive. And so unless there are any hiccups, it appears that Kim will be playing for Bayern Munich next season.

Manchester United had also shown an interest in signing Kim – who is currently completing his mandatory basic military training – but as reported via our colleagues at Get Italian Football News, their interest hasn’t developed.

Signing a central-defender in summer was imperative for Bayern Munich with Lucas Hernandez wanting to leave for PSG, while Benjamin Pavard won’t extend his Bayern Munich contract beyond 2024, meaning the Rekordmeister could lose both defenders in the current market.

Kim will likely become the club’s second signing after Raphaël Guerreiro, who is expected to complete his Bayern Munich medical today.
