Juventus players at risk of ban by FIGC

A host of current and former Juventus players are at risk of bans by FIGC due to their indirect involvement in the salary maneuvering case.

La Repubblica report that FIGC has already opened a file to investigate possible violations of the Sports Justice Code concerning the famous ‘salary maneuvers’ saga. That is, the agreements to postpone the payment of salaries for some months, both in 2020 and in 2021. Some players had signed private agreements that sought to agree to this scheme and as many as 16 players signed those documents.

It is a violation which can cost Juventus upto three times the expenses they tried to save. The Sports Justice Code also notes that it punishes ‘members who enter into agreements with the club or receive compensation, prizes or indemnities in violation of federal regulations’. They would be at risk of one-month bans.

The players who are not at risk of bans are Cristiano Ronaldo, Tottenham pair Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, Atalanta’s Merih Demiral, Juve’s very own Federico Chiesa, Danilo and Alex Sandro. But those who did sign on those papers are Paulo Dybala, Adrien Rabiot, Wojciech Szczesny, Leonardo Bonucci, Juan Cuadrado, Arthur, Federico Bernardeschi and Weston McKennie.
