Chelsea boss Potter denies Forest bullied his players: We stood up today

Chelsea boss Graham Potter admitted that his side found it difficult to handle Nottingham Forest away from home on Sunday.

The Blues had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the Premier League, with the newly promoted Forest earning a valuable point.

Post-game, when talking to reporters, Potter admitted that his side found it tough to deal with a boisterous home crowd.

He stated: “I don’t think it’s this team, I think it’s generally. You have to credit Nottingham Forest. They are here for the first time in a lot of years, so they are celebrating everything, and rightly so. While we have our advantages, they use their advantages, which is the environment here and that is absolutely fine.

“We have to deal with that and we didn’t do it as well as we’d like. We controlled it in the first half but in the second half, we didn’t do well enough. It’s hard to do that in the Premier League anyway and that is why I was a little disappointed at half time because I thought we could’ve done more with the ball ourselves.”

He was then asked if Chelsea can be bullied away from home and stated: “I think we stood up today. The effort was there. We played a draw against Brentford, you have to stand up there because it’s not an easy place to go. Aston Villa we won. Crystal Palace we won. Brighton wasn’t a good game for us at all and obviously, it was a completely different environment again. But that’s the Premier League for you.

“Away from home, teams are not going to make it easy for you. On the one hand, you’ve got players asking for shirts [after the game] and on the other, they are ready to run through a brick wall before the game to prove they can be good enough to beat or play for Chelsea.

“That is how it is. With that comes responsibility for us and we have to be humble enough to know that is the challenge we face. We have to do better.”
