Cristiano Ronaldo’s time at Manchester United is set to come to an end after his interview with Piers Morgan on Wednesday and Thursday. With this Bild has decided to look at four clubs in the Bundesliga that Ronaldo could join.
Borussia Dortmund
The reasoning behind Ronaldo joining Borussia Dortmund is due to their issue upfront. Sébastien Haller is yet to play a game for the club, whilst his replacement Anthony Modeste has been poor. Dortmund currently sits sixth in the Bundesliga but the only positive from this transfer would be Ronaldo being able to mentor Youssoufa Moukoko (18). Ronaldo would also be able to play Champions League football with Dortmund facing Chelsea in the Round of 16.
Schalke 04
Ronaldo joining Schalke is close to impossible due to the financial situation the club finds itself in. For Ronaldo to move it would require a monumental pay cut. Bild put the reason Ronaldo may want to join the Royal Blues is because of the fans at the Veltins Arena. His former Real Madrid teammate Raúl also plied his trade in the Ruhr.
Union Berlin and Freiburg
During the Piers Morgan interview, Ronaldo spoke on how Manchester United is a marketing machine so where better for him to go than Union Berlin and Freiburg, two clubs that are the complete opposite of United.
A capital club, Union Berlin are success orientated with the possibility of playing Champions League football as they continue to grow. The other reason is that Urs Fischer has had to deal with Max Kruse, so he can easily deal with Ronaldo.
A move to Freiburg would allow Ronaldo to live in the quiet Black Forest and experience some of the best weather in Germany.
