Legal expert: Man Utd have grounds to end Ronaldo contract over interview

Premier League giants Manchester United could have the ability to terminate Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract as a result of his behavior.

The centre-forward, who is now with Portugal preparing for the World Cup, gave an incendiary interview to Piers Morgan regarding his situation at United.

Ronaldo spoke about not respecting manager Erik ten Hag, having issues with directors at the club, and accused the ownership of not having any ambition.

Litigation and Sports Lawyer David Seligman took to Twitter and stated that United may have grounds to claim that Ronaldo breached his contract with the interview.

His tweet stated: “After that interview, Man United would likely have grounds to terminate Ronaldo’s contract – material breach of the implied duty of trust and confidence as well as express terms regarding bringing [the] club into disrepute.”

The full interview is said to air through the week, with journalist Morgan posting clips of Ronaldo’s answers online to drum up interest in the full version.
