Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti insists the early season form of Aurelien Tchouameni is no surprise.
Tchouameni, a summer signing from AS Monaco, has impressed in the opening games of the campaign.
Ancelotti remarked today: “Nothing surprised me, because we know him very well. If a club invests so much money in a player, they have to know everything about him. We know the player very well. He has shown what we thought.
“We are working more with him on the defensive side, because I think he defends very well, but we need him to get used to the characteristics of the other players. This needs a bit of time. Playing with (Luka) Modric and (Toni) Kroos is different for him than playing with (Fede) Valverde, (Dani) Ceballos or (Eduard) Camavinga.
“We are not going to have a problem, but it is reality. For him, the position of playing with one or the other changes a bit.”
On Dani Ceballos staying, Ancelotti continued: “Dani knows his role here very well. He knows he is an important player and we love him very much, because he has quality. I think he has decided to stay because he feels affection because he is a player that we like and because of his complete characteristics, a very good central player.”
Ancelotti also says he’s happy Marco Asensio chose to stay.
“He knows the squad very well and we know him very well. Last year he did very well. He was decisive in some games and helped us win the LaLiga and compete in the Champions League. I think he’s going to go through the same thing this season. He is going to have his minutes and his opportunities, as others are going to have, and he is going to deliver.”
