Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has held exit talks with the club’s manager Thomas Tuchel.
Marca reports that the Spaniard sat Tuchel and the club’s management for a talk over his future on Wednesday as he wants to clarify what his position will be at the club next season should he not secure a move.
He also would like to sit down with the Blues’ new owner Todd Boehly to hear the American’s vision for the club going forward, the report also states. Another issue on the table will be to clear up the confusion over a clause in Azplicueta’s contract that states he will be handed a year extension if he makes 30 appearances this season.
The report adds that the defender is unsure whether the clause applies to the current campaign or to the upcoming one and is keen to return to Spain to be closer to his family.
Azpilicueta isnt the only player that is wanted by Barcelona as the Catalans are said to be interested in the services of left-back Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christesen but it is highly unlikely that the trio will all be leaving the club for Barca at the same time.
There is a feeling that the Blues are keen on keeping Azpilicueta owing to his leadership experience as they feel losing him and Antonio Rudiger in the same window might unsettle the team.
