Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick says he’s proud of the success Liverpool are enjoying.
Rangnick, an old friend of Jurgen Klopp, worked with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino during his time as a coach and sporting director at Schalke, RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg.
United face Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night with their arch rivals looking to maintain their title challenge after winning the Carabao Cup and reaching the FA Cup final and Champions League semis.
He said, “I didn’t say how much influence I had on these players but it’s pretty obvious that a big club like Liverpool, one of the best clubs in Europe for the last couple of years, they have six former players of ours from Schalke, Hoffenheim, Salzburg or Leipzig so it’s probably the highest number of players that nobody knew until we signed them or gave them their debuts.
“This obviously has got to do with a similar idea of football and Jurgen (Klopp) and me have known each other for a long time. I know how he wants to play and having six players from former clubs of mine as I said is obviously not a coincidence.”
