🚨 Erik ten Hag to Man United, here we go

Erik ten Hag is poised to be named Manchester United’s new permanent manager once the details of his €2 million release clause from Ajax are finalized in the coming days.

Negotiations over the duration of Ten Hag’s contract are ongoing as United move closer to choosing a successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with Ten Hag expected to commit to either a three-year agreement with an option for another year or a four-year deal running until 2026.

Ten Hag has reportedly been given a major demand: the ability to make final transfer decisions with the club leadership owing to his conviction that the market errors that blighted the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era’s first nine years should not be repeated.

While formal confirmation is not anticipated until after United’s match against Liverpool on Tuesday evening, the current Ajax coach is likely to conduct conversations with his assistant at the Dutch club, Mitchell Van der Gaag, while negotiations surrounding Steve McClaren joining his backroom team continue.

United, who desire to maintain a polite relationship with Ajax, will approach Ten Hag directly this week over his release clause.

Once the financial terms of this agreement are agreed upon, his appointment as United’s sixth manager in less than a decade following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement is anticipated to be announced.
