Former Chelsea boss Glenn Hoddle says Gareth Bale should start for Real Madrid in tonight’s Champions League clash.
Hoddle says Bale will be used more by Carlo Ancelotti during the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie, but thinks the Italian manager may put him on for “20 minutes” at the end of their game at Stamford Bridge.
Asked whether bringing Bale on would benefit Real Madrid on Wednesday, Hoddle told the Chelsea-Real-Madrids-Champions-League-tie-says-Hoddle.html”>Daily MailChelsea-Real-Madrids-Champions-League-tie-says-Hoddle.html”>: “I think in a short period of time, maybe at 20 minutes [he can add value].”
The 64-year-old former England manager said: “You might see Gareth more involved in the second leg rather than the first. It depends on the result.
“What he’s done with Wales proves he is still a very good player. Anyone can play 20 minutes at this level. He certainly can. He can play more.
“He’s a very good substitute to have, especially when he is playing at full throttle. They’ve got some good players Real Madrid, but they are not the team of yester-year.”
