Atalanta FC manager Gian Piero Gasperini has been fined €10,000 and handed a touchline ban for insulting the referee.
Gasperini was angered by the referees’ decision in their 1-0 defeat to Fiorentina when Ruslan Malinovskyi’s goal was disallowed for what was considered to be an active offside position with the official failing to consult the VAR.
Apart from the manager, Cristian Raimondi, who is a member of Atalanta’s coaching staff, has also been suspended for one game, having insulted the officials after the final whistle.
The team is currently being faced with a chunk of disciplinary issues as defenders Merih Demiral and Berat Djimsiti are also suspended for an accumulation of yellow cards.
Gian Piero Gasperini admits Atalanta ‘took a while to recover’ from the Olympiacos opener, but the comeback to win 2-1 was a much-needed confidence booster https://t.co/9PqFtiDHco #Atalanta #OlympiacosFC #AtalantaOlympiacos #UEL
