Ex-Inter Milan coach Benitez: Inzaghi and Ausilio maintaining success

Former Inter Milan coach Rafa Benitez believes his old team are only undergoing a blip.

Inter followed their derby defeat to AC Milan with a draw against Atalanta yesterday.

Benitez told Il Corriere dello Sport: “Against Milan they lost due to a three-minute blackout in which they suffered two goals, but they had done everything to make the match their own and, if they had succeeded, they would not have stolen anything.

“Sometimes the matches take a strange turn and for the Nerazzurri it happened in the derby. Against Roma (in the Coppa) they dribbled well and returned to be solid as always happened this season. They have a strong and balanced team. Thanks to my friend Piero (Ausilio) who worked well.

“I hear from him every so often and we always talk with pleasure.

“Do I like (Simone) Inzaghi as a manager? Very much. He is a technician with clear ideas, who goes in search of the goal with the game. Coming after (Antonio) Conte, who had won the Scudetto, was not easy.”
