Chelsea FC’s American star Christian Pulisic has named the legendary golfer Tiger Woods as his sporting idol and hero of all time.
The former Borussia Dortmund ace was flying in a blue shirt, before Covid-19 and the worst injury of his career made him nearly forgotten.
Having now returned to fight for his place in Thomas Tuchel’s star-studded side, Pulisic has taken some time to chat about growing up as a sports fan.
“My biggest athlete inspiration was actually Tiger Woods growing up,” said Pulisic via Chelsea’s media.
“I just loved his mentality and felt he worked so hard to be as good as he was.
The 23-year-old concluded by sharing the hardest lesson he took from his frustrating time out injured.
“My biggest takeaway, especially recently, is maybe things aren’t going to go in exactly the way or the plan you had hoped for but I think that everything happens for a reason,” he added.
“I really do trust that and believe in that, to just make the best out of every situation. That’s what I’ve tried to do; instead of complaining or making excuses, it’s just making the best out of the situation that you’re in.’”
Coming up next for the European champions is the short trip across London to visit Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
