Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico is furious being blocked from a move to Barcelona.
Tagliafico, 29, has fallen out of favour at Ajax under Erik ten Hag and had stated his desire to leave, but the Eredivisie champions refused to sanction his exit as they felt they could not find a suitable replacement in time.
“At this moment when an irrefutable opportunity comes to me and they [Ajax] don’t let me [leave], that disappoints me,” revealed a frustrated Tagliafico to AS.
“I understand that the situations were not easy, that we are in January, but in the end it ends up harming both of us. Me because I cannot achieve what I want and the club because it holds me back.
“I feel that opportunities can’t be missed and it is a unique opportunity, to be able to go to a club like Barca.
“For me, it was a dream opportunity and they [Ajax] could not help me in the end. There wasn’t clarity from the start. There was also no clarity to tell me from the beginning that they were not going to help me.
“I am disappointed because I have the feeling that my professionalism has damaged me. I always train well, never cause a problem, I have good behaviour every day.”
