Takumi Minamino is confident he can compete with Luis Diaz for a place in Liverpool’s XI.
The Telegraph says Minamino wants to fight for his place at Liverpool following the £50million signing of Diaz.
Diaz’s arrival from Porto prompted to speculation that the Reds would look to offload Minamino on deadline day but the 27-year-old is hoping to stay at Anfield past the 11pm deadline.
Minamino believes he can contribute to Jurgen Klopp ‘s team this season, despite the addition of another winger and only six starts to his name this season.
The report adds that the Japan international was the subject of enquiry from Leeds United earlier in the January window.
But Minamino is likely to remain on Merseyside, having signed from Red Bull Salzburg two years ago for just over £7m.
