Arsenal are ‘ahead’ of Tottenham in their development project admits head coach Antonio Conte.
The Gunners will travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on hosts Spurs on Sunday in a north London derby and Conte has hailed his counterparts while crediting coach Mikel Arteta for rebuilding the club.
Since taking over as the head coach, Conte is yet to lose a Premier League match and will be keen to lead his team to a revenge after Spurs suffered a 3-1 loss to Arsenal in their visit at the Emirates Stadium under Nuno Espirito Santo.
“Honestly I want to play the game and to understand very well [the levels of the two teams],” he responded when asked if Arsenal are at a similar level with Spurs.
“I think they are working, they have started to work to rebuild something important.”
On Arteta rebuilding
“They have had more time than us. Arteta has had the possibility to work with the players for a couple of years and also to go into the transfer market.”
“I think that they are doing a good job. I think that maybe at this moment, for this reason, they are [further] ahead in the project than us because they have started before with the same coach. And I think now they are having good results. Arsenal are a really good team.”
“But at the same time, we want to understand, we want to play this type of game, we want to know how much we are improving than the last period.”
Arsenal have a depleted squad due to injuries, suspension, players going for AFCON and it remains to be seen if the match will push through as planned.
