The 26-year-old Polish forward has joined the Viola on a six-month loan with a €15 million buyout option, bolstering coach Vincenzo Italiano’s assault. He previously spent time in Italy with Genoa and Milan.
The striker will wear the number 19 shirt, as stated by Fiorentina, and will be introduced to the fans later this afternoon. In nine Bundesliga games for Hertha Berlin this season, he has scored one goal and provided one assist.
Piatek responded on his arrival in Florence in an Instagram post, writing:
“Very happy to be back in Italy, where I have always felt good! I thank the Viola for the trust, now I want to show my values. I hope to celebrate many times here.”
In the 2018-19 season, Piatek stormed into the spotlight for Genoa, scoring 19 goals in 21 appearances. He joined Milan for €35 million in the summer window and scored nine goals for the Rossoneri in the second half of the season.
He struggled to repeat his form the following season, thus he moved to Hertha Berlin in the January window for €24 million, allowing the Milanese club to quickly cut their losses. With Fiorentina, he’ll be looking to get back to his best.
