Tottenham Hotspur picked their second Premier League win in a row after they edged West Ham 3-1 in a London derby played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday evening.
Buoyed by their 2-0 win away at Brighton last time out, Antonio Conte’s charges got off to a flying start at home against their London rivals, taking a ninth-minute lead when Kurt Zouma scored an own goal.
The defender attempted to block the ball after a cross, but instead, sent it inside the left post of his own goal.
The two sides created two quick chances after the goal, but Michail Antonio and Heung-Min Son could not find the target.
The hosts then went two up midway through the first half when Harry Kane showed great vision to send a neat pass to Son, who in turn showed brilliant composure inside the box to bury the ball into the top right corner.
West Ham kept fighting and managed to finally get a goal in the 38th minute when Said Benrahma fired the ball into the back of the net following a clever Craig Dawson flick.
Spurs continued with the same pace in the second half, and Kane came close to adding a third just before the hour-mark, but Lukasz Fabianski made a brilliant save to deny the England international.
Kane came close again with 10 minutes to go, but flashed his shot just over the bar.
They however go the third goal with two minutes to go when Kane slipped the ball through to Son who darted into the box to unleash a magnificent shot into the bottom left corner.
The win moved Spurs to fifth spot on the standings with 51 points, three ahead of West Ham.
In another match, Leicester City moved 10th on the table with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brighton at the King Power Stadium.
The hosts started the match with real intent and were rewarded for their efforts as Timothy Catagne scored after just 20 minutes to give them the lead.
James Madison made it 2-0 just after the half-hour mark to give his side the much-needed cushion going into the break.
Brighton put up a spirited fight in the second half and managed to halve the scores with five minutes to go as Yoane Wissa found the back of the net.
It however proved to be just a consolation as they could not find the equaliser, losing a fifth consecutive match.
