Manchester City booked a Champions League semi-final date with Spanish giants Real Madrid following their win over Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.
The two sides played out a 0-0 draw in the quarter-final second leg clash played on Wednesday night at the Wendo Metropolitano.
Man City led 1-0 from the first leg clash played at the Etihad Stadium a week ago, and needed any sort of draw to book their slot.
In a cagey affair, there were no clear chances from both teams, with John Stones’ header, which went inches wide, the closest the two sides came to opening the scores in the opening quarter.
Just on the half-hour mark, Ilkay Gundogan expertly controlled a neat clever pass inside the box, but his effort crashed against the left post.
The rebound fell to the German international, but his effort was well blocked as Atleti survived.
Just like the first, the second period was devoid of real action as both sides failed to create goal-scoring opportunities.
It was in the 57th minute though that Atletico came close to opening the scores when Antoine Griezmann volleyed the ball on the edge of the box after a rebound, his effort flew just wide of the left opposite.
Rodrigo de Paul then got a great chance to pull his side back on level terms in the 70th minute after picking up an inch-perfect pass inside the box before firing the ball a whisker wide of the right post.
Atleti were then reduced to 10 men deep in injury time when Felipe was shown a straight card for taking out his opponent with a nasty slide tackle.
In the end, there was no winner from the two sides, but Man City qualified thanks to their 1-0 win in the first leg.
Pep and company will now face a familiar opponent in Real Madrid in the semifinal.
