Manchester United have been boosted by the return of Scott McTominay as they prepare to face neighbours Man City in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Scotland international has missed United’s last two matches – against Atletico Madrid and Watford – due to illness but will be in the team for Sunday’s derby at Etihad.
McTominay joined the rest of the team in training on Wednesday at their Carrington grounds.
Jadon Sancho and Harry Maguire, who started the match against the Hornets on the bench, were also in training together with the entire team.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick will have an almost fully-fit squad to pick from, with Marcus Rasnford and Luke Shaw, who were involved late on last time out, active in Wednesday’s training.
Man City news
City will be worried with defenders Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias’ fitness after they were both withdrawn at half-time in the 2-0 Emirates FA Cup fifth-round win over Peterborough United.
“Nathan finished bad in the action when he got the yellow card [in the first half] and Ruben was not feeling good in this leg,” said City boss Pep Guardiola afterward.
“That’s why, for caution and to be alert, we made the substitutions. It was not planned but Aymeric [Laporte] and John [Stones] were excellent second half. I would say it was a medical decision.”
With Liverpool breathing on their necks, City will be hoping to pick maximum points against their perennial rivals, who have enjoyed great results at Etihad in recent seasons.
