🌍 Tunisia vs Mali
Tunisia has failed to progress beyond the quarter-finals in seven of eight appearances made since winning the 2004 edition of AFCON. This is something they desperately want to address in Cameroon this year. Mali has failed to win in nine of their last 11 AFCON group games (D7, L2), with stalemates hampering their chances in past editions. It would be no great surprise to see two talented sides cancel one another out here. Especially considering that there’s such a contrast in styles.
🏆 Spurs vs Chelsea
After a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of this EFL Cup semifinal, Spurs have no choice but to come out all guns blazing. Chelsea should have the resilience and depth to get the job done here but we envisage goals at both ends.
🏴 West Ham vs Norwich
Prior to the round, a league-high 78% of West Ham’s EPL home fixtures this season have produced over 2.5 goals. Michail Antonio has scored five goals in his last four matches against Norwich City in all competitions, netting all four of West Ham United’s goals in a 4-0 win the last time the sides met. The Canaries will struggle to contain him, and their defensive record doesn’t make for great reading of late either, with 14 goals shipped in their last five outings. All of those were defeats.
🍕 Inter vs Juventus
Inter and Juve will battle it out for the 2022 Supercoppa Italiana. Inter looks like the team to beat in Serie A after ascending to the top of the table with a stunning streak of eight league wins on the bounce. The Nerazzurri is now undefeated in their last 12 domestic matches (W10, D2). After a shaky start to 2021-22, Juventus is steadying the ship. They’re unbeaten in eight matches and won 4-3 away to Roma last time out in a pulsating Serie A encounter. Since the turn of the century, the Scudetto winners have won the Supercoppa Italiana on 14 of the 21 occasions. We have a feeling this one will go to the wire though, but there will be goals. That’s the way of Italian football these days.
