🏆 Lyon wins Women’s Champions League title

French side Lyon regained their European title after beating Barcelona 3-1 on Saturday night to win the Women’s Champions League trophy in Turin.

This victory marks Lyon’s eighth Champions League title and extends their astonishing record on the European stage.

The French side took the lead just after six minutes after midfielder Henry pulled a sensational strike from outside the area. The 32-year-old picked up a loose ball more than 25-yards out and pulled the trigger, sending her shot rifling into the top corner.

Ada Hegerberg doubled the lead in the 23rd minute, adding to her impressive run of form since she returned from injury in October 2021. The Norwegian was sidelined for 21 months after suffering an ACL injury back in January 2020. Ten minutes later, they scored a third through Catarina Macario.

Barca gave themselves a lifeline with an Alexia Putellas strike just before the break but it would prove to be merely a consolation goal as the European royalists reigned supreme once again.
