Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has lauded the spirit within his squad.
Forest have been promoted to the Premier League and have quickly gone about filling their squad with six new signings.
And Cooper is pleased with the feeling within his dressing room.
“The mood is brilliant,” said Cooper. “There’s a real good balance of focus – knowing we’ve got to go even harder than what we did last year – but at the same time, everyone is proud to be here.
“People are enjoying each other’s company, the training ground is always a noisy one, and we’ve started how we mean to go on. Don’t get me wrong, whatever we did last year won’t be enough for next year.
“We’ve got to do more. That starts with me.”
He added: “It’s going through the normal process of pre-season. It’s a preparation phase in a number of ways, whether it’s physical, how you want the team to play, the culture you want to create, and the connection with the supporters.
“There’s the natural process of that. And added to that, it’s about bringing players in.
“It’s the normal stuff you go through in pre-season. But it’s an exciting one, getting ready for the Premier League and Newcastle away.
“Everybody is really buoyant at the moment, but very focused at the same time. We’ve just got to keep working doubly hard every single day.”
