Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney was a favourite teammate to many of his former colleagues at Old Trafford, but who could have been his own favourite?

Many legendary statuses can be questioned but not that of Wayne Rooney at Manchester United. The former number nine went on to become one of United’s highest-ever goalscorers after 13 years at the club and won every trophy that was available.

Some of the finest teammates Rooney shared a dressing room with included Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

But none of the above names came up in Rooney’s answer when he was asked who his favourite ever teammate was at United.

The former Everton teenage sensation said it was the former Argentine forward Carlos Teves.

“Tevez. I just loved our connection,” Rooney told SPORTbible.

“The two of us up front, we complemented each other really well.

“Normally if I played with Louis Saha, Ruud van Nistelrooy or Robin van Persie – these strikers were always the No. 9 and I’d play as a No. 10.

“With Tevez we could rotate, I’d be the No. 9, he’d take the No. 9 spot and I’d be No. 10.

“When we lost the ball, we’d be like two bulls trying to get it back.

“As a strike partner, he was the one I enjoyed playing with the most,” the former England striker concluded.

Meanwhile, Rooney might follow United’s next Premier League game this weekend away at Eland Road against Leeds United.
