Villarreal midfielder Dani Parejo admits there’s great confidence inside the dressing room ahead of their weekend clash with Osasuna.
Parejo says they’re now hitting their best form at the right time of the season.
He said, “We’ve found consistency with how we are playing and we are being competitive and getting good results. We’re showing that we want to win the match from the first minute. We are also lucky enough to have had various games where we’ve had a number of players available.
“Winning in this league is difficult. The teams above us almost don’t lose any games. We’re on a good run and we’re getting good results. It’s good to see that LaLiga is more competitive than ever.”
In the battle for the European spots, the Yellows No.5 underlines the importance of being focused on yourself and trying to capitalise on every moment to get three points: “Every match is difficult. Winning matches is tough, whether you play at home or away. We don’t have to obsess over things. We need to go game by game. There are 12 matches left of the league season. That’s a lot. We face them all like finals. Each one of them is worth three points, and they’re three points that won’t be up for grabs again. Every game, it’s tougher to cut a gap. We need to focus on ourselves. Face every game full of respect and trying to get a win, while being aware of what we’re playing for.”
Regarding the upcoming tie against CA Osasuna, Parejo emphasised that they are a team that are hard to beat: “At El Sadar, we know they’re a very intense team, who dispute a number of duels, who fight for every second ball, who put a lot of crosses in and who will attack the area. The fans there push them on a lot and that makes the game a tough one. It’s a historic ground and we know that some of our fans will be there too. We want them to support us, for our supporters to enjoy it alongside us, and why would we not want to try and get the three points and dedicate them to them.”
Finally, he recognised that he is very happy and feels important at Villarreal CF: “I’m happy. I feel important in the team because my team-mates make me feel like that, as well as the coaching staff and the people here at the club. I work a lot to be available for whatever the coach needs.”
