Kicker reports that VfB Stuttgart are interested in SC Freiburg trio Yannik Keitel, Robert Wagner and Woo-Yeong Jeong as they prepare for a squad upheaval this summer.
Both Keitel and Jeong have not received much game time this season. For Keitel, his contract at Freiburg expires in 2024 meaning this is the last chance the club have to sell him before he can leave on a free transfer. Freiburg would like to extend the 23-year-old’s contract as they still value the midfielder, but they will wait for him to return from the under-21 European Championship.
For Jeong, his contract expires in 2025 but the draw to VfB could be that he has played under Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeneß before during their time at Bayern Munich.
Wagner is also of interest to Stuttgart. The midfielder has mainly played for Freiburg II in the 3.Liga but has made four appearances in the Bundesliga. Freiburg would prefer to keep Wagner and would prefer him to leave on loan, which Stuttgart would only be interested in if there was a buy option.
There has already been an exchange between the two clubs as goalkeeper Florian Müller is set to rejoin Freiburg as their new backup keeper.
