Udinese director Marino left frustrated after Roma draw

Udinese director Pierpaolo Marino admitted frustration after their draw with Roma.

The Friulani had taken the lead through a Nehuen Perez, but Lorenzo Pellegrini converted a penalty in injury time for Marvin Zeegelaar’s handling offence.

“We are playing well and sometimes we don’t get the results we deserve, such as this evening,” Marino told DAZN after the 1-1 draw.

“I watched the footage back and would love to know where you saw a penalty, because I don’t see one. The images are not clear at all, just to be objective.

“We feel that morally we are the winners of this match, because we played a great game. I respect the pundits you have there in studio, but they are not members of the AIA (refereeing association).

“These opinions seem to differ from the reality of the situation. Just so you know, we were coming off nine consecutive defeats with Marco Di Bello as the referee. Not even the worst coach gets a run like that…”

He added: “Look, I respect your pundits, but this game was decided by an ugly incident. I would hate for the media judgment to be based on protecting the clubs from Rome and Milan. It’s disappointing when a pundit acts like his opinion is the depository of truth.

“There are different images that give contrasting views.”
