Tottenham join Chelsea in race for Inter’s André Onana

Premier League outfit Tottenham are reportedly in serious pursuit of Inter goalkeeper André Onana, joining Chelsea and Manchester United in the race for the Cameroon international.

According to a report by Lorenzo Lepore and Nima Tavallaey Roodsari in SempreInter.com, Chelsea and Tottenham are considered to be long-time admirers of Onana. However, Inter are reported to be accepting only cash for their star man and have ruled out any prospects of a player-exchange deal.

The Cameroon goalkeeper has played a vital role in the Nerazzurri’s positive campaign, helping them secure the Coppa Italia and making crucial saves to reach the Champions League final.

Despite having the likes of Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga in their goalkeeping line-up, The Stamford Bridge Blues aren’t satisfied with the performances of the stoppers available in their repository.

With the appointment of Mauricio Pocchettino, Chelsea would now be able to send a considerable offer to Inter for their first-choice stopper.  They were contemplating adding Kepa Arrizabalaga in the deal to lower the cash amount but Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta has ruled out the possibility of any such exchange deals as they only want cash.

Tottenham have endured their defensive woes this season and Fraser Forster cannot be the one who replaces the ageing Hugo Lloris in between the sticks. Though they are yet to find their manager, the Lilywhites are also keeping an eye on the Onana situation.

Manchester United and Barcelona showed some primary interest before but it never became concrete.

As things stand, Inter are expecting a bidding war soon for the 27-year-old goalkeeper and will aim to make a substantial profit from the sale to aid their financial condition.
