Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl says Adam Armstrong could face Manchester City in today’s FA Cup clash.
The summer arrival has only netted twice all season and was turned to for just 17 minutes of the last three Premier League matches, despite Saints losing all of them.
Those minutes came in the form of a substitute appearance versus former side Newcastle United during the 2-1 defeat, before both Armando Broja and Shane Long were used while Armstrong was left on the bench during the loss to Watford.
Asked what the 25-year-old has to do to be the man Hasenhuttl chooses to turn to even when trailing a match, the boss responded: “As always, wait for the moment to get the chance to play and then try and do a good job.
“As a sub, I think he has done this quite well. As I said, he has some patterns in his game that definitely help us and he needs to learn other things, like he knows.”
Hasenhuttl continued: “We are definitely working very hard with him like all of the players and I am sure that he will get a chance to play sooner or later.
“We have a lot of games coming up also after the international break and maybe he gets a chance at the weekend also.”
