Vicente Moreno has said farewell this morning after the former Espanyol coach’s sacking this morning.
Just a few minutes after his departure was made official this Friday at noon, Moreno appeared before the media to say goodbye.
“In recent times the atmosphere has been rarefied but this two-year process has been worth it and I leave with the satisfaction of having achieved the objectives,” he said.
As a coaching staff, before coming to Espanyol we tried to take a picture of what we were going to find and we were aware that we were coming from a dramatic situation like relegation. That made the situation difficult but it was worth it.
“We have had the opportunity to work in a club that is spectacular in every way and assuming the objectives that were set. I think we rose successfully and then in the second year we have managed to stay up.
“I am not a coach who makes headlines but you have always treated me with respect and I have always tried to have the same with you. Finally, I want to thank the fans. In this time I have felt loved by the amateur on foot that you find in the supermarket or the gas station. This club has a brutal growth margin.
“Visca l’Espanyol!”
