Ronaldo to receive pay-cut if Man United miss out on UCL football

Cristiano Ronaldo’s salary would be reduced by 25% if Manchester United do not qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The Red Devils are presently seventh in the Premier League table following a disappointing campaign thus far, but might finish in the top four this weekend if they defeat West Ham and Tottenham and Arsenal both lose.

The fight for Europe appears to be heating up, but if Manchester United fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League, there will be consequences for Ronaldo.

According to The Athletic, the forward’s income will be halved if his side fails to qualify for the continent’s main club championship.

This revelation comes as part of a deeper dig into Ronaldo and United’s troubles thus far this season, with the reunion falling short of expectations.

He came under criticism recently for his outburst following his substitution in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory against Brentford.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has now justified the decision to hook Ronaldo, citing the goal scored minutes after the switch.

United are largely pleased with his behavior since his return, despite widespread conjecture that he is proving to be a toxic influence on numerous young players.

Since returning to Old Trafford, Ronaldo has nearly single-handedly dragged Man United into the Champions League knockout rounds, but has yet to reach his peak domestically. He has eight Premier League goals this season, just half as many as Golden Boot leading candidate Mohamed Salah.
