Reports: Ex-Man United defender Smalling agrees to COVID vaccine

AS Roma defender Chris Smalling has finally agreed to the coronavirus vaccine according to reports.

Smalling is one of the Serie A players who are yet to receive even a single vaccination. However, the former Manchester United defender has agreed to take the hab following new rules in Italy that states that only vaccinated players will be allowed to enter the locker room in a stadium and players in Serie A, B, and C.

As reported by Sky Sports, Smalling is set to get vaccinated tomorrow so that he can be available for selection on Thursday against AC Milan.

Head coach Jose Mourinho revealed in a press conference all Roma players are expected to take the vaccine.

“These are private matters and players have the right to protect their privacy. A few players had COVID last week, they asked for privacy and we respected that,” said the coach.

“Rules are rules, the law is the law, and the moment the Italian Government makes a decision on a vaccine mandate, then it has to be respected.”

“If a player could go without, we respected that, but if it’s the law then we want the players to respect the law so they can do their job and play football. I don’t think there will be any problems.”
