Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti says Alaves gave them a good test on Saturday.
Real eventually won 3-0 on the day.
Ancelotti said, “We were in need of a game like that. We found it tougher going in the first half, but showed our commitment right throughout the 90 minutes. We lacked quality and movement in the final third during that first half. I told them that at half-time and we saw an improvement after the break.
“Following our poor performance on Tuesday night, the fans saw a reaction here tonight and that’s a positive.
“The fans gave their opinion on our performance. They didn’t like what they saw in the first half but then enjoyed our second-half display. Nobody was happy at half-time.
“We needed to do more and the fans were thankful that we did and everyone was happy with the way we performed in the second half. The supporters really got behind us because they want this team to win LaLiga and perform to their best.
“Failing to score in the first half is a weakness. It’s something that we’ve spoken about and that we’re going to address. Our opponents really press up hard in the first half and their intensity levels drop off after the break and that makes things more comfortable for us.”
