Real Madrid captain Marcelo was happy to feature in their 1-0 win against Granada.
Marcelo was delighted with his selection on the day.
He said, “I’ve been here a long time and no games are easy. They really made it difficult for us today from the first minute, we were patient with the ball, and got the goal in the end and picked up a very important three points. It was a strange game to be honest. We were slow to read Granada in the first half but in the end we were patient and we had more of the ball, made more passes, and scored the first goal. Asensio has an incredible shot on him.
“I’m very happy. I can’t say anything else but thank you to the Real Madrid fans throughout the 15 years that I’ve been here. It was another beautiful evening today. I’ve enjoyed a lot of good nights here with standing ovations and the warmth that the fans have for me is amazing.
“The team’s not just about the 11 players on the pitch. Some players obviously get more game time than others, but we’re mature enough to know that we have to work for the team to be ready whenever the coach calls on us. They are 25 of us and we have to be ready, regardless of whether we play more regularly or otherwise. That’s all part of the Madrid DNA.”
