Southampton targeted Manchester United’s failure to follow runners successfully during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, according to Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Man United took the lead in the first half with Jadon Sancho’s goal, but Che Adams leveled shortly after the break to give the Saints a well-earned point just three days after their superb 3-2 triumph against Tottenham.
He said: “It’s not a big secret that when they lose the ball the reverse gears are not the best from everyone.”
On his side’s performance, Hasenhuttl added: “It’s very enjoyable with this team. We are really good to watch, to be honest. It’s fantastic from our side. We always have a solution and a new way of playing and this is good to watch and the way we want to go.
“It is super tough to play Wednesday night and Saturday lunchtime, especially against such a team but we had chances to win.
“We scored immediately after half-time with a beautiful goal and had two or three massive chances.
“So we had good chances to win today. Absolutely, Fraser [Forster] does a fantastic job and has a big part of this point today.”
Southampton’s current surge has catapulted them into the top 10 of the Premier League, however, they remain behind the pack seeking European football.
