PSG looking to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen

Paris Saint-Germain, and in particular sporting advisor Luís Campos, are already making moves ahead of what promises to be a busy summer transfer window, as the club faces yet another rebuild after an early Champions League exit.

L’Équipe report this evening that the focal point of those efforts is the forward line, with Victor Osimhen among the targets – the in-form Napoli striker joined by Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva and Benfica’s Gonçalo Ramos on the shortlist.

A move for the former Lille man will be difficult to pull off, especially given that the Nigerian has his sights set on a transfer to the Premier League. As part of PSG’s efforts to convince him otherwise, a meeting was held a few days ago in Paris with his agent, Roberto Calenda.

In any case, the club will look to put together a squad – built around Kylian Mbappé – that can finally challenge for European club football’s biggest prize. They will nevertheless be hamstrung by FFP concerns, having already been sanctioned by UEFA over their drastic losses and his with a fine of €65m – €55m of which suspended. As a result, PSG will inevitably have to sell this summer in order to avoid further sanctions down the line – specifically they need to reduce their deficit over three years as per an agreement with the European football authorities. Finding a way to sell their soon-to-be returning loanees (Julian Draxler and Leandro Paredes, for instance) will be key.
