Bayern Munich host Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena in Friday night’s Bundesliga game, which will see one team lose their 100 percent start to the 2023/24 campaign.
Ahead of the game, Bayern Munich are sweating over the fitness of Joshua Kimmich, who missed Germany’s 2-1 win against France. He has returned to training but will face a late fitness test ahead of Friday’s game. Kimmich is guaranteed to start if he is fit enough, but Konrad Laimer will likely play alongside Leon Goretzka is the former doesn’t make Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI. That would also mean Noussair Mazraoui coming in at right-back.
Dayot Upamecano, who also missed the Germany vs France game, should be fit enough but if the Frenchman isn’t Matthijs de Ligt will return to the squad, alongside Kim Min-jae.
Tuchel will likely name the same attacking quartet that started against Borussia Mönchengladbach prior to the international break. Harry Kane will lead the line ahead of Thomas Müller with Jamal Musiala working his way back from fitness. Kicker also suggests that Kingsley Coman will start ahead of Serge Gnabry with Leroy Sané keeping his place.
Raphaël Guerreiro should also be fit enough to make the matchday squad for the first time this season following his move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer after his contract expired.
Predicted Bayern Munich XI vs Bayer Leverkusen
Sven Ulreich – Konrad Laimer, Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae, Alphonso Davies – Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka – Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller. Kingsley Coman – Harry Kane.
