Kalidou Koulibaly‘s latest temptation is Chelsea. Juventus have also shown interest in the Senegalese, but neither Napoli nor the player is interested in strengthening a Serie A rival.
According to Il Mattino, Napoli could sell Kalidou Koulibaly if Chelsea submit an offer of around €30 million this summer.
Koulibaly has entered the last twelve months of his contract at Napoli. The Italian club has offered an extension at a salary of around €6 million per season. But Koulibaly wants a move away from Naples.
Juventus are keen on making a transfer for the centre-back as Massimiliano Allegri holds the player in high esteem. But Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis doesn’t want to sell such an influential performer to a direct rival.
Koulibaly doesn’t wish to play for another Italian club after leaving Napoli either. But the prospect of playing for Chelsea interests the 31-year-old.
Besides the €6 million-per-season salary, Napoli are also open to making him the club’s next captain following the departure of Lorenzo Insigne.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis will arrive in Val di Sole to discuss the defender’s future. It is understood that the player’s agent, Fali Ramadani, could also be present at the meeting.
Despite the recent changes in the club’s ownership, Ramadani, one of the main mediators behind Maurizio Sarri’s arrival at Chelsea, has a good relationship with the Premier League club.
Napoli want to keep the player for at least another season. But then, Koulibaly will make a free transfer to pastures new, giving Napoli nothing in return for his departure.
