Napoli detailing move for Vincenzo Italiano as move for Thiago Motta stalls

Napoli are now preparing to move for Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano over the next week, with a move for Thiago Motta now having stalled.

Il Mattino have reported about Napoli’s chase for a new manager, reporting that Aurelio de Laurentiis is keen on making sure that he has a replacement for Luciano Spalletti firmly in mind before he leaves for the United States on the 12th of June. In the meantime, he is making multiple approaches to understand who might be the right candidate.

7th June is expected to be a key date as Fiorentina will play their Conference League final against West Ham and after that, De Laurentiis will be able to further understand if Italiano is the man to manage Napoli next season. Napoli will know if he wants the move, with the La Viola boss looking to potentially demand a doubling of his current salary in his next role.

De Laurentiis and Rocco Commisso share a great relationship but there is a feeling that the Fiorentina owner would want something for the club in the move. So, there is a possibility that he could demand players such as Gianluca Gaetano and Diego Demme as part of the move or the fee in question.

Talks involving Thiago Motta have now stalled, giving the impression that he has something else in mind. He is likely to leave Bologna but he has doubts about Napoli and about De Laurentiis’ comments regarding challenging for the Champions League next season.

When it comes to foreign names, Christophe Galtier is currently in the lead after cold responses from Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique. From next week onwards, Napoli are expected to make further progress in this saga.
