Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti following Atalanta win: “We were coming off a defeat and once again Napoli reacted as a great team”

Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti expressed his satisfaction following a vital 2-0 victory over Atalanta in a post-match interview with Dazn Italia, via La Gazzetta dello Sport.

A magnificent solo run and a dip of the shoulder to dazzle around three Atalanta markers and find the back of the net enabled Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to break the dead-lock and extend is marvellous run of form to 11 goals and nine assists in 22 games within the Serie A thus far.

In the 77th minute of player, central defender Amir Rrahmani headed home a fine delivery from Elif Elmas to seal all three points and move 18 points clear of second place Inter.

While speaking to the media, Spalletti provided his insight on his side’s performance and tie significance of the victory moving forward within the title race:

“We all want the same thing, but in the middle there are games to play where we have to do the same things, showing the same strength of character. So it will become easier. When you decide to accept a bench like this, you enter the history of these people and the feeling that surrounds the team, which can sometimes become pressure. Because wearing this shirt in front of an audience like this is a responsibility. Here we are not satisfied with finishing third, last year they told us everything and now we have to win.

“These are matches of the highest level and up front we had a team that put in an important performance. They knew how to create difficulties for us within duels. Atalanta are strong and have excellent training sessions. Scoring goals and winning this match iwas essential. We were coming off a defeat and once again Napoli reacted as a great team. For a match we lost, many rushed on us… We have an exceptional fan-base behind us.

“Intensity and re-aggression are the key to everything, even to involving the spectators. Then we don’t like sitting around waiting for the opponents. We are all convinced that we are playing offensive, modern football, played at speed because We want to measure ourselves against the strongest. We started and now let’s see where it ends. Then we have players like Anguissa, Lobotka, Di Lorenzo who have a quality that makes everything worthwhile easier”.
